We're very happy to announce an exciting, new element at Cafe Libertalia -- The Libertalia Foundation, a non-profit organization supporting education and exploration the areas of economic thought and social philosophy.

In the near future, we plan to organize lectures, workshops and debates involving well-respected professors, authors, etc. within these fields of expertise, as well as encouraging and assisting others to organize such events on our premises.

The initial project of The Libertalia Foundation is what we call "Mises West". Mises West is dedicated to spreading the principles of free-market economics, voluntaryism, and classical liberalism (aka libertarianism). It includes a library and bookstore on the premises of Cafe Libertalia at 3834 5th Avenue in Hillcrest, made possible through the generosity of an anonymous donor.   We invite you to come and take a look; you're welcome to buy a coffee and read 'til your heart's content!

Another project currently underway is a workshop series covering the areas of Critical Thinking, Effective Communication and Conflict Resolution. More information will soon be available about this series.

We enthusiastically welcome others to contact us regarding possible events and projects they might want to create under the umbrella of The Libertalia Foundation. We consider an important aspect of the Foundation to be our sincere intention to facilitate the free exchange of ideas, and encourage anyone interested in engaging in the areas of economics and societal philosophies to offer proposals.

Farewell and all the best to Java Joe!  It's been a fun year, with Java Joe time-sharing Cafe Libertalia -- lots of amazing music and great times. We wish Joe the best of everything in the future.


Cafe Libertalia is CONTINUING to offer excellent MUSIC acts on Fridays and Saturdays. On Sundays, we start the evening at 7:30pm with the live taping of MusicologySd.com's interview show featuring local musicians, singers and songwriters.  Immediately following, is our Open Mic, with all types of acts -- musicians, singers, poets, comedians, actors, etc.
